Every Saturday The Performance Ready Team
trains at the Red Rocks in Colorado. But since I live in Texas, I do not get that joy!! Ha, ha. Actually the workout is extremely difficult - I don't know if I even have the GUTS that it takes to do that workout every weekend!
These are pictures from when I went up to train with them early May 2009.

So, since they bring it on in the great outdoors, I really have to step it up at the gym.
Today was no exception. I did 12 mins on the Step Mill as a warm up, then did back to back moves with my hubby and circuited a little 1 1/2 hour routine. We did Step ups on a block with DB's, followed by Bicep curls fast with an exertube. Then we did step overs with a cross reach off of a raised step using DB's, followed by exertube punches -fast. That got us huffing and puffing. We then did forward lunges off the step with Db's and alternated footing, along with Reverse Grip PullDowns -standing. It was fun. Then we did some machines with a focus on my shoulders, mid back and booty!!. By round two, hubby gave up after doing the step overs. He really is a trooper to hang on that long! We had fun. I feel so much better now.
Some guy asked my husband if he was my trainer!! At first I was a little offended. My husband does not workout very often. But, then I looked at the trainers at our gym, and only a few of them are muscled, lean and strong. So, John kinda fit the look. But, I found it funny that he didn't think a woman could be the one leading the workout. My husband told him I was a trainer and he liked coming to the gym and being told what to do. That poor guy?? He was so confused!!
The gym was packed with the "Newbies" the "resolution'ers" which makes it a little frustrating. But we all know -sadly, that in about 6 weeks people will start dropping like flies. It really makes me think...what makes me different, why am I doing this? What makes people stop?
There of course are so many reasons. I just want to touch on one today.
If you really want to be successful, why wait til the New Year. Or why wait til Monday to start your diet or lifestyle change? Really.
Take for example my morning. It wasn't ideal. To me, it was disastrous, or it coulda been if I was closer to my show. But, I came back home from my workout renewed, knowing that I do not have to wait til tomorrow to turn over my new leaf. But the very next meal.
We all make mistakes, we are not perfect. Only Jesus. And to me, it is only by Him and through Him that I can make the change. He is in control - I must give my shortcomings to Him and leave it there at his feet. The harder part of it is giving up the control, and not beating yourself down about not being perfect or about messing up (like this mornings meal...ha, ha. So, if you are wondering how I do it. That is how I do it. I know that my workout today was grueling - at the pace I did it. My hubby will tell you that - he had to stop. So, by God's grace and His plan - I was able to make it through.
