The Road Well Travelled

It's a road you have been down many times before - but funny how the landscape continues to change. The road is a little more bumpy or the lines have faded. The trees a little larger, and the homes have faded paint worn from the sun. But you continue onward to your destiny.

And so do I. I have fiercely been preparing to compete this weekend. My "just in case" to make sure I am still Nationally Qualified - so I can continue towards my destiny of turning PRO in Figure - for the 2010 season.

The road is a familiar one. The Ronnie Coleman Classic. I placed third in my class two years ago.
A placing that bumped me up to the National Level in the NPC. If you click on the link hopefully it will take you to the picture of me in a two piece red suit. Just look for my red hair and the red suit if you decide to click thru a few pictures after.

The changes: Ha, ha...I am a little older, I am a lot more seasoned of a competitor and I am lot more mature muscularly. I view this road as one that is good, it's got a pit stop in Mesquite TX. More practice to present my package and learn along the way.

I am super excited that my husband gets to go! He has not gone through from a start to finish to see the behind the scenes and all that is truly involved. It means a little time away from the kids -together!!

I am so thankful for my friends that have taken on our kiddos for the weekend - oh, they may not want to be my friend after this! I do feel so blessed by the many people who have come into our lives since we settled here in Austin almost 12 years ago.

We have planted seeds and watched them grow. In ourselves, our children and our friendships. It has truly been amazing at how God continues to put people in our lives in just the right "seasons of our needs". So, I thank him for those people and for this weekends adventure to the Ronnie Coleman Classic.

Take time to reflect on the road you travel everyday and the greenery along the way. Is it littered with potholes? Is it as slippery as tires on black ice? Or is more like a rolling country road? Are fields flourishing with growth or are they withering away?

Be thankful in everything, and give your requests to God - for he will guide your path and help you travel down that road. He does not want us to be alone, even when the path has a few potholes in it like a pit stop in Mesquite TX - just in case. I cannot wait to get there and see what He has in store for me!!

  1. I am thankful that God put you in my path {gasp} 35 years ago. You are a blessing Lori and I am thankful that you have friends close by to be there for you when you need it.
